Most of the time, oil changes are tracked through mileage and time. Engine oil breaks down and gets dirty over a certain period of time. Therefore, regardless of whether you use your car a lot or a little, the oil can get contaminated and lose its efficiency. If you don't change your oil based on the recommended time frame or mileage, it can hurt your engine in the long run. You should simply get your oil change on time to avoid costly repairs.
