BG Automotive's Top 5 Fall Maintenance Tips

It's officially Autumn. A new season means new driving challenges to face. The weather is shifting, the leaves are falling, and the days are getting shorter. As a result, it's crucial to prepare for autumn conditions by performing basic maintenance tasks. Please take your vehicle to BG Automotive, where our expert team can give you a full-point inspection and help you identify any hidden issues before they become dangerous ones. Here are five key points to keep your vehicle in tip-top shape during the Colorado Fall.

Tip #1: Check your brake system.

It's no news that your brakes are a key factor to your safety; without functional brake components, your vehicle will not be able to stop or slow down at all. This is why your brakes should be a number one priority when it comes to seasonal check-ups. If the brake pads have less than 4 mm left on them, it's time to make a trip to the shop.

Tip #2: Confirm that all your lights work.

As the days grow shorter, it means more night drives. Please give your car a good walk-around and inspect all lights (headlights, brake lights, fog lights, etc.) to ensure you see your surroundings and alert others of your presence. If one of the bulbs has gone out, you should get it replaced as soon as possible.

Tip #3: Inspect your essential fluids.

We urge you to go through all your fluids, including coolant, engine oil, brake fluid, and transmission fluid, to ensure you have enough to get you through the season. It would help if you also inspected the liquid for any anomalies such as darkness or contamination.

Tip #4: Look at all your tires.

When checking your tires, please make sure it's free of holes, leaks, or punctures. Treadwear is also a significant factor as irregular wear can indicate a need for an alignment or balance service.

Tip #5: Install new wiper blades.

If you've been a longtime CO resident, you know that rain or snow can show up any time during the fall (and winter). You're going to need a reliable set of wiper blades to clear off the precipitation so that you can see during your drives. If your wiper blades are squeaky, streaky, warped, or generally not as effective as they used to be, then you should go ahead and replace them.
