BG Automotive was the only automotive repair shop in the area that would even talk to me about the issues I was encountering with my 2014 Infiniti Q50 hybrid. I received a diagnostic error code of P30EF, Li-ion battery problem, on my last oil change at the dealership. The only solution the dealership had for me was to replace the entire hybrid battery pack which, with parts and labor, is apparently a ~$20k process. ‘Nothing else can be done’, was their claim. I proceeded to do some research on the internet and low and behold, the Q50s do experience this issue at 100k+ miles. I continued to discuss the issue with the dealership asking if there is a recall or even what I could trade the car in for. They continued to wash their hands of the issue saying I couldn’t even get an extended warranty now with this ‘pre-existing’ issue and because it has the issue, they could only offer a trade-in of $500. At this point, I started to research purchasing a full battery pack myself and seeing if there was an automotive repair shop in the area that could install it. Every shop I called said they do not have the experience or equipment to work on a hybrid electrical system, except one; BG Automotive. I had brought my car in explaining the issue to see what their cost of replacing the hybrid battery pack would be, thinking that was the only solution based on the information I had received up to this point. Walker and his team proceeded to do their own root cause analysis and found that there were multiple electrical code issues that were not just related to the Li-ion batteries. That was news to me! They suspected that it was rooted from the 12V battery, which to my surprise (and theirs) was the original one that came with the car. They replaced the 12V battery ($164 + $29 labor), tested the entire electrical system, and all the error codes disappeared! I can now also pass the emissions test as they failed the car because of the check engine light (obviously unrelated to actual emissions but a story for another time as they would not budge either). Thank you to Walker and the team at BG Automotive for not just ‘checking the box’ like the dealership but really digging into the root of the issue. You have made a customer for life! David
